Important Information:
Which types of switches is it compatible with?
It is compatible with the standard, classic light switches commonly used in Europe. Since the head of the switch extender is flexible, it adapts to the shape of the switch, whether it is convex or concave.
Important to note!:
This version is primarily suitable for single-pole, single switches rather than double switches.
It is also important to note!
It may not work with very old switches that are difficult to operate.
What are difficult-to-operate switches? In this case, a difficult-to-operate switch is one that a 2-3-year-old child might find challenging to switch on or off, even with just one finger.
From what age is it recommended?
It is recommended from the age of 2-3 years. By this age, children are usually able to move around the house independently, go to the bathroom on their own, and are developed enough to understand that the switch is not a toy but something they can use to operate the lights.
Should we install the spacer?
It is worth installing the spacer if your child is still relatively young. At a younger age, it’s possible that the child might grab onto the rod and potentially damage the switch. Once you can explain that it’s not a toy and should be handled gently, the spacer is no longer necessary.
If we also install the spacer…
We have an easy option:
We can stick it to tiles, laminate, or other surfaces that the foam adhesive cannot remove. These are typically found in the kitchen and bathroom.
The more challenging option:
If the wall is plastered, especially if it has been plastered multiple times, drilling is necessary because the adhesive is strong enough to remove the plaster. We drill the wall using the plugs provided in the package, then secure the spacer connector with the screw. After that, we slide the spacer into place. This ensures a secure installation that your child cannot remove.
Important: Electric shock hazard warning. If the switch is correctly installed and there is no outlet (socket) beneath the switch, the chance of drilling into a wire is very low, as the wires come from above. The risk is further reduced by not placing the extender directly in the center of the switch, so even if there are electrical wires running downward, we will not drill into them. If you are not 100% sure of what you’re doing, consult a qualified electrician!
